Michelle Rosales, General Manager

Michelle Rosales, General Manager of Yankee Pier Larkspur, did not take the most traditional route to restaurant management. Prior to working in the restaurant industry, she spent four years teaching pre-school, and her acquired skills in multi-tasking and organization from the classroom provided a useful platform for restaurant management.

“I definitely apply a lot of the lessons that I learned as a preschool teacher to my current role,” says Rosales. “I am constantly interacting with different types of people, and I enjoy motivating our team to love what they do and take pride in their work.”

Having worked with the Lark Creek Restaurant Group since 2001, Rosales started out as Manager at One Market Restaurant. “It has been such a pleasure working with the diverse group of personalities that comprise the Company,” says Rosales. “We are fortunate in that our senior managers and principals are always willing to offer advice and provide guidance, but they also give us the freedom to make a number of decisions and tackle challenges on our own.”

Prior to joining the Lark Creek Restaurant Group, Rosales worked at a number of top San Francisco restaurants, including Hawthorne Lane, Chart House and McCormick & Kuleto’s. She received her bachelor’s degree in management from University of Oregon, in Eugene. During college, Rosales got her first look at the restaurant industry, when she spent time bartending, hosting and waiting tables. She says, “I fell in love with the ever present need to think on your feet. There is always a new challenge to deal with, which keeps me constantly learning.”

When she is not at the Yankee Pier Larkspur, Rosales prefers to leave the cooking to others. In her spare time, Rosales is studying for the Sommelier exams and is involved in the Court of Master Sommeliers.
